Rev. Melissa Mantha - Edited Civil Ceremony

Edited Civil Ceremony
I. Procession

II. Opening Words
Celebrant: Welcome family and friends!
There are moments in our lives that are ruled not so much by time but by the heart. This is such a moment. These two people have fallen in love and today they will make a bond. Before all of you, their most cherished family and friends, they will say the most powerful, the most loving words two people can say to each other. They will take their wedding vows. And it is our honor and privilege to stand witness.

IV. Declaration of Intent
Celebrant: The covenant of marriage is one that can be entered into only by persons who are both legally and spiritually free to offer themselves to each other. Therefore, in the presence of all the witnesses here, I will ask you to state your intention.
_______ and _______, have you come here freely and without reservation to give yourselves to each other in the holy state of matrimony?
Couple: “Yes.”
Celebrant: Since it is your intention to join in marriage, kindly join hands and with your hands your hearts.

V. Vows
Couple: Today, I join my life to yours. You are my dearest love, my best friend and now my family.
I promise to communicate openly and honestly, and to take time to listen to you. To challenge and support you as you grow intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. To celebrate our successes and offer comfort in difficult times. To believe in you even when you doubt yourself. I promise to be faithful, patient, respectful, and understanding and to love and cherish you always.

VI. Rings
Celebrant: These rings are an outward sign of an inward love, signifying to all the uniting of this man and this woman in holy matrimony.
Couple: I give you this ring, and with it, all that I have and all that I am.

May all blessings attend you, May joy pervade your lives together, May your home be forever a place of peace and true fulfillment.
